Many people often say I am a prolific painter. That is because since the age of eight years I have had a passion to learn how to draw and paint like the masters that I read about in encyclopedias. That desire has never left me. Over that past couple of years I have painted in acrylics and oils and I've pretty much settled on oil painting. I did a lot of abstract expressionism and then began a quest to get better at portrait painting and trying to keep it loose as other artists such as Sargent. Recently, I began gathering things to use as still-life set ups. In October I am signed up to take a four day workshop to learn to paint En Plein Air.
After I have work on all three, I plan to combine all three to create paintings of people in outdoor settings with still life in the set up. We'll see how that goes,
Meanwhile, I will post some of my recent work and if you'd like to see more you can find me on Instagram, on Twitter, Etsy and on Facebook you'll find me as Patty Rae Wellborn Fine Art.
I'm a signature member of the Center For Contemporary Arts where I have a studio. This is also where I teach a free-to-the-public figure-drawing class.
I am also available to Abilene and the surrounding area to teach workshops in portrait painting and still life.
